Activities & Clubs

Junior students participate in clubs, some of which they’ve developed for themselves. EdGE was founded by Jazmine Moffett-Steinke when she was in the 4th grade and stands for ‘Education for Girls Everywhere’. Each year, EdGE chooses a community to focus on where girls do not have fair access to education. The girls educate themselves about that community and then try to make a difference. In the past, the club has raised money to outfit a computer lab in a school in Afghanistan and has helped to buy school uniforms for girls in Lesotho, Africa.

Once in middle school, students are given the opportunity to coach intramurals to become active leaders in a variety of other roles. Geek Girls Club is a popular club for middle school students. Open to girls from grades 7 - 12, Geek Girls is for girls interested in robotics and having fun with technology. As in the junior school, clubs are often connected to opportunities to positively affect social change at school, in the local community and globally.

Many senior students create and run their own clubs. Sometimes, in those clubs, they teach younger students activities such as basketball or guitar, or they get other students interested in a concern they may share about the environment or social change. Clubs are an essential feature of any senior student’s schedule. They understand that they are expected to lead, to be actively engaged, and to share their engagement with others. If they have an idea, teachers provide the support to help them run with it!

Every year, students in the Classics Club participate in the Ontario Classics Conference. A relatively new club at Linden is the social committee that looks for educational and social opportunities to link with other schools in the area and hosts events at the school which build community and give students a chance to relax and have fun.
